Superheroes get their powers in many ways, but magic remains one of the greatest and most mysterious methods, with the widest variety of effects and both the most and the fewest limitations. Think of all the superheroes and villains who got their powers from magic: Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Metamorpho, Sasquatch, Dr. Strange, Doctor Fate, Thor, Loki, the Enchantress, the Warlock's Daughter, the Blue Devil, Zauriel the angel, Northstar and Aurora, Detective Chimp, Ragman, Nightshade, Raven, Sister Grimm, Hercules, the Nightmaster, Werewolf By Night, Aquaman, Tempest, Puck, the Scarlet Witch, Agatha Harkness, Juggernaut, and many, many others. With the magical threats of demonic contracts, ghostly haunting, vampire infection, covens of black witches, schemes of evil sorcerers, restless rampaging dragons, ancient ogres, malevolent faerie creatures, pagan gods, ancient artifacts in the wrong hands, cruel immortals, and devastating elementals, the world needs heroes who can fight fire with fire, or magic with magic. And so, the spirit of Merlin, long trapped by his lost love in a cave deep in the Earth, sent his spirit wandering in search of the best and brightest people (or creatures) who would be willing to turn their magic, be it memorized incantations, enchanted swords, animalistic abilities, inborn magical powers, servant spirits, psychic potential, or any other way in which magic could manifest, towards the goal of helping the innocent and helpless and saving the world.

To play, you must post a bio including your character's Name (needs a superheroic identity, though some creatures and spirits and ancient heroes might only have one name... put any names here), Appearance (including a superheroic costume), Abilities, and Background.

NAME: The Rhymer (Thomas Learmonth)
APPEARANCE: As The Rhymer, Thomas wears a decorative but useful indigo cloak and a green outfit that looks like one of Robin Hood's spares. He wears a utility belt with a number of pouches around his waist, and wears cuffed boots. He is a handsome, dark-haired man with a slim body and a gentle smile and knowing eyes that seem to change color. He wears his hair long, and he speaks with a slight Scottish burr. His ears are also ever so slightly pointed, and he is frequently surrounded by fairy lights of various colors, dancing around him.
ABILITIES: Bears a prophetic ability to know the future, which also grants him an instinct for incoming danger. Can fly, turn invisible, and throw blasts of fairy fire using handfuls of different kinds of pixie dust. Knows the properties of a number of medicinal herbs and can live off the land for days without help. Can see through Fairy glamour and other illusions, and sense (or create) gateways to Fairyland. Can cast more powerful spells through rhymes, including summoning more powerful fairy creatures.
BACKGROUND: Thomas Learmonth was Ercledoune was a 13th Century Scottish Laird who caught the eye of the Fairy Queen and was taken to be her personal bard and poet. When he longed for home, she graciously let him return, and offered him a choice between the gift of music or prophecy. Obviously, he chose the latter. When he returned, he found that seven years had passed, and that he had picked up some of the magic of Fairyland. With it, he became a famous soothsayer and wizard, and came to rival Merlin of England, Lugh of Ireland, Taliesin of Wales, Melissa of France, and Vainomoinen of Finland. Every so often he would return to Fairy, and then Earth, and time passed, until he emerged in the modern age with a mission from the Fairy Queen to join Spellforce and protect the world from evil magic.
